privacy policy.

Effective 6 November 2026

emo emo is a period and mood tracker for iPhone and Android. It is made by Renaissance Systems, the trading name of Varun Veerbhadra ("we", "us"). This policy says what the app does with your information, who else handles any of it, and what you can do. Questions: hello@accustom.app.

the short version.

on your phone.

These stay on your phone, in a file encrypted with a key kept in your phone's Keychain (iPhone) or Keystore (Android):

Predictions, emo's tips and the calendar are worked out on your phone from these. Reminders are scheduled by your phone; nothing about them reaches us. Home and lock screen widgets read a small summary (today's cycle day, the next predicted period, today's mood and your theme) that the app keeps on your phone for them. The file is excluded from your phone's own cloud and device-to-device backups.

encrypted backup (optional).

If you sign in and turn on backup, the app encrypts a copy of the information above on your phone, with AES-256-GCM and a key made from your recovery code, and uploads only the encrypted file. The recovery code is shown to you once and kept in your phone's Keychain or Keystore; it is never sent to us. Without it, nobody, including us, can open the file. If you lose it, we cannot recover your backup.

We store the encrypted file in Google Cloud Storage (Firebase), with its size and the time it was last saved. It is deleted when you turn backup off or delete your account.

your account (optional).

Signing in uses Sign in with Apple (iPhone) or Google (Android), through Google's Firebase Authentication. Firebase keeps an account number, your email address (or the private relay address Apple gives us if you hide yours) and which way you signed in. If you sign in with Google, Google also passes your name and photo to Firebase; we never use or show them. Kept until you delete your account.

your subscription.

emo emo is a subscription, bought through the App Store or Google Play. Apple or Google handle payment; we never see your card. We use RevenueCat to check whether your subscription is active. RevenueCat receives a random app user number (or your account number, if you signed in), what you bought, when, its price and currency, and the store's receipt. Kept while you subscribe, and removed from RevenueCat when you delete your account. Apple and Google keep their own records under their own policies.

your age.

In some places the law has the app stores tell apps an age range. Where available, the app asks Apple (Declared Age Range) or Google Play (Age Signals) on your phone, and uses the answer only there, to keep emo emo to people 13 and older. It is not sent to us.

These companies act for us under contracts that limit what they may do with it. If you live outside the United States, information they handle may be processed there; for the EU, UK and Switzerland we rely on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses and their UK and Swiss equivalents.

why we may use it.

Keeping your cycle and mood data, which is health data, rests on your explicit consent, given in the app before you start; you can withdraw it at any time by deleting your data. Your account, backup and subscription are handled to provide the service you asked for.

your choices and rights.

Depending on where you live (for example the EU, UK, California, Washington and other US states), you have rights to access, correct, delete and port your information, to withdraw consent, and to complain to your data protection authority. Write to hello@accustom.app and we will answer within 30 days. We will not treat you differently for using them. Our consumer health data notice has more for US states with health data laws.

children.

emo emo is for people 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13; if you believe a child under 13 has an account, write to us and we will delete it.

security.

Your data on the phone is encrypted with a key that never leaves it, backups are encrypted before they leave your phone, and everything travels over encrypted connections. No method is perfect, but because we never hold your logs in readable form, we have none to lose.

requests from authorities.

We do not have your cycle or mood logs in readable form, so we cannot hand them over. We would only ever disclose the account and subscription details above where the law requires it, and we would tell you unless prohibited.

changes.

If we change this policy, we will update the date above and, for meaningful changes, tell you in the app before they take effect.
